Prayer for Feeling Loved

Tonight I pray that you feel loved. That for a moment you can allow all your inner defenses to fall away. You can relinquish the many roles you play, the many weights you carry, you can let your hands fall open into the One who holds it all. I pray that you can let yourself feel the special way he delights in you, what gladness you bring him by being alive. How he smiles when you are being the you-est you. Even if that is just washing the dishes or singing along with the radio in the car, it is in those mundane moments when you are simply being the person he made, he is so fulfilled. I pray that Christ come like a banner of love over you, that waves in the winds atop a mighty fortress, claiming you as his, the one you truly belong to, the home you've been searching for or trying to build and keep safe on your own. Though this banner is strong enough to fortify a kingdom, it is also tender and merciful and lights upon your heart, gently covering everything, dismissing every fear, soothing every anxiety, and it touches them all, every single one. And I pray that in the places you feel defeat, or you don't understand, or you think you've been chasing a mirage of a dream, that you look again, but this time, you see him there, he's holding out his hand to you, he's been waiting patiently for you to turn to him and he's rejoicing in song because of the unique joy you bring him, just for who you are, who you really, truly are. Tomorrow, when the sun rises, I pray you see the dawn as a gift of the day he is opening for you, that every sign of Spring's return reminds you he is in the business of ressurection, restoration, and making all things new. I pray you begin to see every interaction throughout your day as an invitation to participate in the worldwide healing work he is already doing. As Zephaniah 3:17 tells us, "For the Lord your God is living among you." And he wants to say one thing:

You are loved. 🧡
